The fact remains that backlinks (especially free ones) are still needed, but the degree of their influence has been significantly reduced compared to recent times. Now it is very important to understand how best to build up your link mass, because you can just throw money down the drain.

It seems very interesting and important to me that the nuance that has arisen is that now all the factors affecting the promotion and promotion of the site are taken into account by search engines in a comprehensive manner, and if earlier it was possible to advance to the TOP only through external optimization (increasing the link budget), now it is important not only and not so much the number of purchased (or received free of charge) links, but their quality, which is determined by the quality of the resource from which they were received (the quality of the donor).

It is only worth mentioning that appropriate internal linking can significantly increase the number of pages viewed by visitors (this will be taken into account by search engines as a plus in most cases).

Here we mean internal linking not for the purpose of correct distribution of static weight, but for the benefit of the readers when you give them the opportunity to get additional information on the facts mentioned in the article (such linking is best done manually at the time of writing the article).

But one does not interfere with the other. In addition to manual linking, you can add various modules that display similar materials, the most popular articles, the latest comments, etc. In Joomla, for example, there are standard modules for this purpose, while in WordPress you can use plugins such as Related Posts or Yet Another Related Posts.

So, let’s see what can and should be done in the internal optimization of your resource in order not to put a spoke in the wheels of its, preferably free, promotion using external optimization (getting or buying backlinks).

In general, if you are too lazy to follow the link, then I will mention the nuances of internal optimization that affect the promotion of the site, which were mentioned and discussed in that article.

First, at the stage of selecting a domain name for a future project, I advised, if possible, to include the main keywords in the domain name (although this advice is not suitable for all projects, but nevertheless, and Google has recently been punishing them, so be careful with my advice).

In conjunction with the domain, you should pay attention to the introduction of keywords into the URLs of individual project pages, which can be done by activating the CNC in the engine you are using. For links to articles on implementing this in Joomla and WordPress, see that publication.

Then we talked about the expediency and correctness of using the Title and Description meta tags for successful website promotion, and also made sure of the need to create the correct robots.txt file depending on the engine the project is running on.

A considerable amount of attention was paid to internal linking, which, in the conditions of modern search engine algorithms, can truly work wonders (it is especially important to link among yourself those pages of your project that you are actively promoting with external links, and from other pages you can also catch up with linking weight on them) …

Yes, there is also such a trifle as the Favicon icon, which can be great to increase the CTR of your resource in Yandex search results and thereby further promote the site yourself.

A sitemap was also mentioned here, which allows you to speed up and direct the indexing of your project by search engines in the right direction. It would also not hurt to close external links from indexing using Rel Nofollow and the Noindex tag.

But in that post, I forgot to mention some of the nuances of internal optimization, which can also affect the success of website promotion.

First, it will not be superfluous to do such a thing as forced gluing of site mirrors with WWW and without WWW by means of 301 redirects. This will avoid possible problems with the division of the future link mass between two resources that are different from the point of view of search engines (with and without the prefix WWW).

And also I forgot to mention the creation of the correct 404 error page (404 page for Joomla, error 404 page in WordPress), which allows you to keep visitors on the resource even if the document is not available via a broken link, which, for example, could be placed with an error on your resource from some forum or blog.

It turns out that a 404 page can also slightly improve the user optimization of the project, and therefore, to some extent, simplify its promotion.

Promotion by means of external optimization (free backlinks)

As I mentioned just above, it will not work to promote the project neglecting one of the main factors, which means that appropriate attention should be paid to external optimization. In principle, at the initial stage, it will be possible to do without even buying links, because there are several free ways to get them from both conventional and fairly trust resources.

Anyway, even if you use purchased backlinks to promote, free external optimization will not be superfluous and will significantly save your budget.

Usually, the first step in the promotion of any project is to add it to the search engines Yandex, Google, Rambler and others to speed up its indexing. There are different opinions about the expediency of this action, but I think that it will not be superfluous.

Many people believe that to speed up the indexing of the project by search engines, you can run the site on social bookmarks, which are constantly visited by search robots, and a link to your resource will be added to the indexing queue.

Yes, and it is also worth mentioning that if a resource with a large number of pages has only a few in the search engine index, then it is likely that it fell under the AGS and it is not worth buying backlinks from it (from the pages remaining in the index), because it is already marked by Yandex as nasty and unpleasant. After you have decided on potential candidates for an exchange or purchase of a backlink, you will need to be quite careful when choosing a page from which a link will be placed on your resource. It is best if this page is completely thematic to the one to which this link will lead. It is advisable that the donor’s page does not contain other open external links, especially non-thematic ones, because this can force Yandex to mark this backlink as purchased and not take it into account when ranking. You should also make sure that the donor page is in the search engines’ index, otherwise your backlink may never be indexed like that, although the presence of a page in the index does not give any guarantees that it will not fly out of it soon. But nonetheless. The nesting of the donor page has practically no effect on the transmitted static weight (this also applies to links from muzzles — main pages), but logically, the deeper it is buried, the longer it will be indexed.
